Policy on PhotographsWhen a girl registers to become a Girl Scout, there is a section on her registration form that discusses use of photographic images. That language is as follows:"We understand that when participating in Girl Scout activities the registrant may be photographed for print, video or electronic imaging. We understand that the images may be used in promotional materials, news releases, and other published formats for either the local Girl Scout Councils or Girl Scouts of the USA. We acknowledge that the images will be the sole property of either the local Girl Scout Council or Girl Scouts of the USA." The most common use of these images include printed council publications, the Annual Report and website postings. We adhere to Safety-Wise guidelines. If your daughter is not to be included in photographs, please properly complete that section of the registration form and notify our office (355-9850 / 1-800-243-2371). We cannot separate which publication methods are acceptable to you and which are not (for example, we cannot say Jill Doe can be in the Annual Report but not on the website). It is the Council's understanding that if a leader or parent submits a photo to the Council, that all girls pictured will have authorizations in place. |
